I am interested in using my Steering wheel controls to control the Empeg Mk2a, using the PAC SWI-X adapter. Does anyone currently have this working? Anyone have any trouble with it? Thanks!

Yep, I've got one installed in my mini to use the steering wheel controls to control my mk2a. Works almost as well as the original remote. No problems so far.

Did you have to set the SWI-X to use a special encoding (kenwood/sony/etc) or did you have it learn the IR codes by pushing the buttons on your remote?

I had it learn the codes from the empeg remote.

When press and hold down a steering wheel button via SWI-X, does the Empeg recongnize it as a long key press?

Nope. Empeg long presses are implemented by calculating the time between it getting a "button press" signal, and a "button release" signal, which are two different IR codes. The SWI-X sends only a "button press" signal. This is the primary reason I'm trying to build my own system, instead of using the SWI-X.
