So, there's this guy on MP3.com who reviews software, calls himself "Warewolf". Here's a quote from his recent blurb on the software page:

Peter Davis, a junior at Garfield High School in San Diego, has developed some Linux software that lets you actually command your MP3 player just by talking to it. Called MP3VoiceControl, the program uses IBM's ViaVoice audio library. All the software needed to run the MP3VoiceControl is free and available on the Internet.

Now, imagine this: You're in your car, the new Britney Spears song comes on, and what do you do? Listen? No. You exclaim, "Computer, play some Beastie Boys!"

I think that example pretty much sums up the huge demand for this kind of software. Never again will you have to suffer through some long playlist of teeny-bopper pop music. Moreover, what if Peter and the guys from Empeg teamed up so that the oh-so-already-cool Empeg wouldn't require a remote? That would create the ultimate-geek car stereo.

So who's got the heart to tell him how long the Empeg guys have had it working in their Mark 2 prototypes?

Calvin, there is absolutely no way Peter's lawsuit would ever be successful, as Empeg has already implemented the all-lawsuit-killing, risk-avoiding, user-car-accident-preventing "boot into text mode" function in the beta-10a software release (see the "Beta 10a Released" thread for more information). I was led to believe this innovation protects Empeg from all lawsuits of any kind.

I am a both a lawyer and ecstatic Empeg owner, and couldn't resist this opportunity to tease Rob and the Empeg folks a bit in this regard. My secret is out--let the lawyer jokes begin.
