Read a bit about it here.

Only released in Norway right now and for some reason wouldn't run on my phone out of the box, but I changed a file and it works now. Looks nice and seems very quick. Pics have compression artifacts, but I think that's acceptable on a phone. See if your phone is supported here, then download the attachment.

(I am using a Motorola A780)

To get english, open the menu on the lower left and select "verktøy." Then, under "instillinger," change "språk" to english.

Oh yeah, opera.jar is the high-memory version. Opera_Mini_low.jar is for phones with limited memory.

very interesting... my phone is listed in the supported phones list (i605), but I'm not sure how to send a .jar to my phone over bluetooth. Anyone have any thoughts?

I just installed it on my Treo 600 (the low-mem version; the regular one seemed to have a few problems) and it seems to rock.

If you're using Windows XP with SP2, you can right-click on the JAR and under "Send To" there will be a selection for Bluetooth device. Try that. If not, you may need to use the software that came with your bluetooth dongle which (obviously) varies.

Yeah, it definitely seems to be a very nice and polished application/service. I noticed that Google.com will come up with the Norway site. To force Google in english, I made a bookmark for http://www.google.com/ncr

I guess the caching server is actually located in Norway. Still seems very fast though.

Yeah. It's still got some problems for me, like it won't load this BBS, for example, but it loads the things it does load in about a quarter the time of any of the other browsers for the Treo I've found.

I've also got the A780, what file did you change and how did you change it? Thanks!

I already modified the attachment in my first post. I guess it was their way of controlling the download since info from the JAD file had to be appended to another file inside the JAR. Just use what I posted and it should work.

That gives me an invalid filetype error on my cellphone. I really hate Nextel, they want everybody to pay per KB to install a program. I guess i need to find the webjal for my phone

Bah... I hate bluetooth. Why does it create an incoming and outgoing serial port? Does any application actually allow you to have 2 com ports?

That's why I couldn't get GPS, or webjal, or any other application to talk to my cellphone.

Anyone know of a fix for this type of issue?

This post made using Opera Mini. I had to use the full ULR you get after clicking "Main index" though.

Trying to install it on a Nokia 6230. It copies over using the PC suite "Application Installer" via Bluetooth no problem. It shows up in the applications list but is "greyed out" and says "Invalid File" when I try to run it. The only option is to delete it...

Any Nokia users tried Rob's patched version? Or how can I get the original unpatched one?

Thanks Rob. That un-modified one seems to be working albeit in Norwegian. Perhaps there is some sort of checksum that some phones don't use but mine does?

edit: which I have changed using the instructions in your first post. Looks good.

Opera is doing pretty good business in the mobile browser space. They brought in $28.2 Million last year, 66% of which was from their mobile browser. According to an article in Business 2.0, they expect 77% of 2005's revenue from mobile. Over 12 million units shipped pre-bundled with phones this year.

I hope it's departure from their desktop app, which has scarcely 1% of the global browser share. I'm surprised it's that high actually, I've never liked any version I've ever tried very much.
