I'd happily help you do it here. But that's like an 8-9 hour drive (each way) for you.

Cheers

Yeah, your own garge or driveway is definitly the cheapest place around. Failing that, a friend's garage.

If neither of those options work for you, don't go cheap. Don't go outrageously expensive either. It's a good amount of work to tear open your whole car, run power down one side, signal down the other, mount a head unit and mount an amp. Most people who do it cheaply aren't going to put the time and effort into doing it right, and they're going to make up for the install price on the price for the components. Remember, the price for the install is the total price minus the cheapest price online for the components, not minus the list price.

Yeah, um... I have to say, "Cheap" isn't necessarily the way you wanna go with car installs. Nothing but tears and heartache down that road.

Unless the installer charges you more to install components that they didn't supply, such as "that mp3 player". I'll bet it's better to get components from the installer, if they have what you want. Starts off the service relationship on a good note and they're working with stuff they know. It's all about pleasing the service provider so they don't screw you over.

While I understand your point, if installation is a loss leader, I can't imagine they do it very professionally.
