Thanks, everyone, for such a fun meet!
I'm posting this a few days late, as I've only just returned from my trip out to the Bay area (in addition to the Empeg meet, I was at
Consonance this weekend).
I have only one regret about the whole thing. As some of the attendees began leaving the meet, I went outside to my car to demo Richard's voladj software to a couple of people. Since it was a rainy day, the windows of my car fogged up, and we couldn't see outside. We also hopped into a neighboring car (was that you, Calvin?) to hear a demo of some free-air subs, and his windows were fogged too.
When we were done, I went back inside and everyone was already gone. We hadn't seen everyone leaving because of the fogged windows.
So my regret is that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye, or to personally thank Jon, Hugo, Rob, or anyone else. I really didn't know the party was going to break up that quickly. I expected folks would be hanging around a lot longer.
So... sorry if I didn't say goodbye.
Otherwise, it was a fantastic day. It was fun meeting everyone face to face for the first time (and in a few cases, the second time). There were many folks there who I wished I could have spent more time talking to. Everyone was very friendly, and overall it seemed more like a huge family reunion than an owner's meet.
There were some really amazing installs, too. Loren's Playstation install was a sight to behold. I played a little bit of Starfighter on it, that was rather cool. Of course, then there was the moment where Loren accidentally hit his remote starter button while the car was in gear. Someone remarked: "Note to self: Don't stand in front of Loren's car..."
The cars themselves were neat, too. We got to see the S2000 with the apple airport on the parcel shelf. BMWs, Porsches, Mercedes, etc., were certainly not in short supply. But I have to say, the coolest car I saw by far was... THE PIMPMOBILE! Enough said.
For those who were wondering how the weather turned out, it was really nice for the first part of the meet. There was no rain during the outdoor portions of the meet. Then we moved inside for food, quiz, Q&A, etc., and the weather was very polite about it and waited until we were all inside before it started raining. Hope no one left their roof open!
The sound quality of
all the systems there was fantastic. I was very impressed by how everyone had great installations and sound.
Thanks again, everyone! Let's do it again next year!
(Jon: Same weekend next year would be great, too-- I really liked combining my Con trip and the Empeg meet. My two favorite hobbies taking up a whole weekend is my idea of Heaven on Earth.)
