I must be one of the only people left on the planet that isn't part of Google's "select and small" beta group for GMail.

And honestly, the only reason I need/want an account is to be able to use their "free" IM which apparently gives me "choice" - well, it doesn't give me the choice of having any other email address.

I find I need to have an account with pretty much every mainstream IM server just to maintain a constant connection to some people. Using Adium one or other connection is always going down (today it's MSN).
