I'm going to hunt down J.J. Abrams.

I won't kill him right away.

I assume this means that MI3 was really really bad.

Either that, or you're still mad he created "Felicity."

I didn't know he had anything to do with either of those projects.

Something from "Lost" then? We haven't been keeping up . . .

Has Lost just finished it's run over there, with no conclusions or explanations whatsoever?

X-Files gave more answers than Lost. I deleted my Lost SP on my TiVo and HDDVR once the episode ended.

I liked the Lost finale. I usually don't get involved with shows like that, but in the middle of this current season, I started watching the series from the pilot onward. One night I watched 7 episodes in a row. I have become very addicted to the show.

Perhaps it's because I've seen all the episodes within a short period of time I can remember what happened a little clearer, but I thought the finale did answer a lot of questions. Of course, it just brought up a ton more in the process. I was riveted the whole way through. Can't wait for season 3.

I've yet to watch a single episode of Lost. Should I stay far away, approach with caution, or dive right on in?

I think you either get hooked or you don't. If you don't see every single episode, there is no way you can follow the show in a satisfying manner.

I was a big fan of the X-Files and a friend of mine told me it was like that kind of show. Long story arcs and questions going unanswered all the time. I don't know if I agree that it's like X-Files because most X-Files episodes are stand-alone and have little or nothing to do with any other episode.

I'm a big fan of Lost now, so I say dive right in. I'm pretty glad I did, but now I have to wait months for the 3rd season to start up.

LOL. Oh yes definitely -- forgot to mention that bit. I couldn't imagine watching the show without having seen every episode. I dont know of very many shows like that besides 24. Maybe Alias but I never really got into that so I'm not sure.

Which, of course, is the whole point of what JJ is doing with the show, hence the murderous rage.

The man owns me like a crack dealer owns his customers. I worship him and hate him all at the same time.

I will thank him for all his wonderful work as I'm torturing him to death and making him reveal his secrets to me.

For those who don't follow Lost, each time a question is answered, it sets up a whole new host of questions. This two hour season-ending cliffhanger was one of the biggest ones, in that respect. It reminds me of the episode that started the season, where the mystery of "the hatch" was revealed. Only this time, we're left with a doozy of a cliffhanger: We don't know if two of the biggest main characters are alive or not.

Someone earlier in the thread compared it to X-files. I think this show is the anti-X-files. It's like Chris Carter, through his bad example, taught other TV writers What Not To Do. For instance, don't make up the mythology as you go along. Instead, have a long term story arc with a clear goal in mind, and reveal little pieces of the mythology at carefully placed intervals.

If you're going to watch the show, buy the DVD set. Last year, they released the Season One DVDs about a week before the opening episode of Season Two. I hope they do that again this year, it's the perfect scheme for getting new viewers hooked. You can catch up on the series before starting to watch the new season. And boy, what a fantastic series.

Next to Firefly, I think this is probably the most engaging sci-fi show on TV.

Lost season 1 was imported and doubbed here in Italy this year, and last episode was shown last week. But, after Episode 15 of season 1, I could not resist and downloaded all the remaining ones from the internet. Illegally, I admit. I'm guilty, but ABC would not stream to people outside of the US. In all honesty, I actually don't feel that guilty, since I re-watched every episode of season 1 on TV all the same, just to try to chatch more details, and because the episodes are just so good.

Then, since I was completely addicted, I downloaded all season 2, again illegally, again for the same reason as before, and still not feeling that guilty. I watched it all last week. I too ended up seeing so many episodes in a row, because it is just impossible to stop. Just to realize that episodes 22, 23, and 24 were porn movies. Alright, downloaded the real 22, but what about 23 and 24? When I found out it had not been shown in the US either, yet, I found terrible having to wait 1 week. Then, yesterday, while eagerly waiting for my usual illegal download (it takes few hours before somebody shares the file), I happen to open up a thread on our beloved EmpegBBS: subject "JJ" . I read the first sentence by Tony, I kill the browser, and just think: "Oh no! THAT JJ! What does he mean?! It's not going to be over? Who is going to get killed?".

So, now I had my illegal dose of "Lost", and I know. And It's just terrible. Terrible! I went through two entire seansons all at once, and now I have to wait months. I won't survive. Or maybe will: I'm buying all the DVDs.

Now, for some reason I thought JJ had designed it to be two seasons long. I thought I read it somewhere. Worng, anyway. So, does anybody know what his plans are? Are we going to see the light at the end of the tunnel, in May 2007, or is it never going to end?

Help.

That's not really a spoiler. In the official podcast that came out a week prior to the finale, the producers said something like one person will die, and two may be dead. So, I guess most hard-core viewers already knew some deaths were possible.

On the DVD set for Season 1, they said they had at least 6 or 7 seasons mapped out (or I think that was the number- it might have been as low as 5).

This is how I was with Twin Peaks. I watched it years after it aired on VHS and watched episodes back-to-back. I have no idea how they expected people to keep track of clues and characters if they had to wait a week between shows. So I don't fault people for saying the show was too confusing. But seeing it on VHS (and now DVD) really helped.

This is the reason I havn't seen a single episode of Lost yet... I know I need to start from the pilot and have been too lazy to buy it.

I don't listen to the podcast because I'm trying to get dirt on the upcoming episode. I listen because that's how sad my life has become...

I do, however, read one of the Lost forums to make sure I didn't miss anything in the show. In almost every episode there is something I missed. I (initially) missed Libby twice in flashbacks because of her hair color in flashbacks vs. her island color. Seemingly worthless connections are often missed as well (such as when Locke was inspecting Sayid's girlfriend's house). References to "the numbers" are usually overlooked as well and appear in almost every episode's flashbacks.

These things may not mean anything in the end, but it is interesting enough for me to waste my time on it. Being Lost is the only drama show I watch, I just have more time to dedicate to it.

Don't get me wrong. I have no problem discussing episodes that I've already seen, but the sort of stuff external-to-the-story stuff that gives away information, like the fact that Rodruguez and Watros were leaving the show (and Grace before them) I'd rather not know and be surprised by the episode, rather than wondering throughout the episode when they're going to be killed off.

I think it's cool that they have some idea of where they're going rather than just making up stuff as they go. Or at least, the overarching plot of the island anyway. If I remember correctly, the interpersonal stuff is kind of just writing itself, which I think is as it should be.

I hope JJ & crew have a really good idea where the show is going. There have already been a couple of questionable episodes here and there, but nothing X-Bad. The other thing to hope for is that the creative minds keeping things on track don't get bored when side-lining on other projects. If you'd like to see how bad this can make a show, look at Alias. Easily one of the worst shows on TV this past season (ok, it wasn't as bad as Threshold). In 13 short episodes they managed to undo anything positive about the past 4 seasons as well as create more plot flaws and character flaws than pretty much every other show on TV combined.

Every now and then I find out about some random plot point or episode theme for Lost. It doesn't bother me and I certainly don't go looking for it. I'd rather keep the show "in the box." They're definitely taking some notes from Twin Peaks, but it'll never be the same calibre of work.

I completely agree. I found "cruel" that they made us wait so long to finally "know everything", but I was just kidding. Of course, knowing where the show is going allows them to pace it properly, keep it consistent, avoid plot flaws, which are the strong points of Lost, so far, IMO. Poor pacing and inconsistency can turn an excellent film into a disaster very easily. So far, I have to say that I can only compliment JJ for his excellent job and his... "cruelty" .
