I reckon it's great but the wife calls it my "man bag"
Won't let me carry it in public - Better that leving it in the car for some low life to steal!

Most of the carry cases have gone out now, but no T-Shirts have shipped yet - we're still waiting for them arrive here. That's why we said allow 28 days for delivery

That's funny, my wife is just the opposite. She gets angry if I ever leave the Empeg in the car (which is rare).
It's because she's lived with me through two car break-ins. I get really miserable for a while after that sort of thing happens. So she knows what the alternative is, and would much prefer seeing me carry the Empeg case. ___________

Received my case today, top notch way of doing business I say. Much appreciated empeg guys err Rio. Sure is a tight fit on them cases at first I thought it was too small but it went in w/a little coaxing is this pretty common w/others cases? Doesn't matter, I knew there was a reason not to buy a case awhile back. Thanks again & great way to do business considering being bought by Rio.

Yeah, i can fit that and more too. It takes a few weeks of use and it loosens up a ton. Or you can just sit on it everytime you pull the empeg out in the car... that might hasten it's aging.

Yes, that's true.
To everyone getting a new carry case for the first time, I would like to offer a "tip" about wear and tear:
When you unzip it to remove the Empeg, always unzip it all the way. It's tempting to only unzip it as far as is necessary to get the Empeg in and out. But I managed to break the zipper on my Mark1 case by doing that. The zipper gets extra wear and tear at the corners and wherever you bend it to open the case. If you unzip it all the way, then the wear and tear happens at the reinforced spot at the bottom of the zipper's travel. ___________

good point! Another tip that i figured out pretty quick, is to flip it open all the way as Tony says, and hold the empeg by the back with fascia towards you, slide the fascia side in forward towards the top handle, the push down the back...since the front is wider it's easier if you slot it in first. Really helps when the case is new and tight. the remote fits nicely along the side or front as well.

He's probably using his Mark 1 power supply. Those were awesome: A separate power cable and a slim little converter brick. None of this "wall wart" stuff. You could easily get a Mark 1 power supply into the empeg carry case along with the cables and the remote. ___________

you mean the new ones are different?
man that bites! I was doing the DJ thing for a friend in a paddock and the power must have spiked because the PS of the empeg blew up. so there we were in the middle of nowhere with only a cheap walkman for sound.
Thankfully i'd brought along a few extra cables and borrowed a car battery so with some alligator clips, and adapter cable i ran the emepg off the battery and the amps off the generator.
You really don't know what panic is until the PS blows up and you hope like hell that the empeg is OK.
anyways i was hoping to get a new one at some stage. are they wall warts now?

As far as I know, all the new ones are wall warts.
But the old Mark1-style power supplies were just purchased from a third party anyway. If you wanted to find out who/where, I'm sure you could if you tried. And I think the IBM thinkpad power supplies that work with the Empeg aren't wall warts either, am I right? ___________

I'm using the european 220V version from the MKII. It is probably smaller than the 110V. The trafo is connected to the wall-outlet and about 2 metres of cable is connected to it.

Hmm,. I got the slim power box with both my Mark 1 and 2, and I was one of the last people to get an empeg Mark 2. Was the change to the wall wart for the Rio Car players, or just random chance for Mark 2 owners?

The "wall warts" were part of Mark II product legacy. No relationship to Rio-izing of empeg.

Okay, I guess I was wrong, then. I thought all Mark2's got wall-warts.
There was a choice of wall plug types (US, UK, rest of Europe...), one of them being that power brick has three-pronged male connector of the type you find on computers, and the customer provides their own cable to connect to wall socket (this arrangement has a name, but I cannot remember it...). Since PS works on any voltage or frequency in use worldwide, this way users can have their power brick working everywhere, with the use of appropriate cable.

...three-pronged male connector of the type you find on computers...
That's an IEC socket. I'm very glad to have ordered one. I had some doubts when I ordered mine because they did not show pictures of all the options on the web page. I ordered the IEC out fear that US version would be a "wall wart". Wheww!
Note to Rio folks: I'm assuming that you are selling wall warts now. Even though riohome.com sells only in the US, you might want to consider going back to the IEC power supplies for the following reasons:
1) Wall warts hog space around multi-socket power strips which
are commonly used around PCs.
2) Unless they have retractable AC prongs, wall warts are difficult to
carry in cases and may even stab fragile items (like riocar screens)
with their protruding prongs.

Here's the invitation, below. I deleted the link because I didn't think I should be posting links that give away other people's stuff on a public forum. If you interested in filling out the survey, email the Rio guys and tell them that you're an owner. I'm sure they'll be pleased to send you the URL.
Dear Customer,
As you are well aware, last October empeg joined forces with Rio in a
continued effort to provide you with the latest tools to access and
experience digital music on your terms.
In an effort to better understand you and focus our marketing efforts, we
have compiled some specific questions we would like you to answer. You have
the option to answer only the questions you like, opting to select "no
response."
We recognize that your time and input are valuable. We would like to offer
you a choice of an additional carrying case, or a T-shirt in exchange for a
few minutes of your time.
Moving forward, the newly combined strength of empeg and Rio will be obvious
as new products enter the market, while existing products are improved. Part
of that process is soliciting information from our consumers to ensure that
we continue to provide products that fit your lifestyle.
To complete the questionnaire please visit:
http://www._DELETED_LINK_
Thank you in advance!

The Rio Car adapter is of the all-in-one type, however it is an incredibly cute one - much smaller than the IEC adapter.

Are there differant types of cases?
I can fit my empeg in the main compartment (with the creditcard style remote on top) and in the outside pocket, I can fit the power supply (wall wart - on its side with the cord wrapped tightly around) and a bundled up mini-to-RCA cord AND a USB cable (I am going to try to replace the USB cable with my ethernet cable now that you guys helped me set up peer-to-peer!!)

Cute enough to have retractable prongs? I really miss the way the empeg store pages had accesories listed with pictures. It would eliminate some of the rumor and endless specualation.
