That was a good one! Weeeee!

The S-waves came right after the P-waves, so I knew it was close. I live less than 10 miles from the epicenter.

At home a couple of books fell off a shelf, but that's all.

Anyone else feel it?

The most 'interesting' earthquake I have ever been in was in Tokyo. Our office in Tokyo is on the 13th floor of a building, and it was a holiday over there, so two other guys (from my office here) and I were the only ones in the whole building except for security. We were in a corner office and I thought 'wow, its windy outside', only to realize no windows were open. Then I realized the shades were swaying and the shades in the building across the street were swaying. It was just weird having my stomach lurch that much without any control over it at all. The other times we had earthquakes over there was when I was sleeping and didn't notice, apparently.

Earthquakes are just... frightening. I have never felt like I had no control over anything like that before, or since.

yeah I felt it. I live in santa cruz, 30 miles away or so.
what I noticed was that if seemed to be rather long, but not very harsh.

earthquakes remind me how little I care for earthquakes.

Yep, definitely felt it in Mountain View... was halfway through changing the baby (btw, this is not a very good birth announcement, but it's incidental to the story) and the earth moved. Kinda a little scary on the 3rd floor but more worried that it was going to get worse than worried for my life

I feel like a proper californian now

I was wondering when we'd hear the news! Congratulations!

...and congratulations on surviving your 'Californian induction hazing'!

Good god, I hope the earth doesn't move for you, every time your baby's bowels move.

Congrats on the new family member!
