Press Fn+Shift+Delete

[EDIT - sorry, this is the keyboard shortcut when using a Windows session in Mac OS with a notebook, such as Remote Desktop, etc..]

Pretty sure there's no option built into the Finder. Sorry.

Here's the appropriate Applescript you asked not to receive.

You can use the AppleScript with a hotkey program such as Spark. Make up a hotkey that you'd like for this functionality and it can trigger various actions, including external files.

The AppleScript should be saved as an "Application" to make it as seamless as possible.

Other solutions:

-Automatically empty the trash at startup.
-Automatically empty the trash at logoff.
-Automatically empty the trash at predetermined interval.
-Automatically empty the trash whenever something is added to it (folder action).
-Set the trash to "Read Only" which will force anything sent to it to be permanently deleted - this will disable trash altogether though.

I didn't intend to ask not to receive Applescript. Only intended to say that I wouldn't know what to do with it once I got it. Time to start reading up on Applescript, I guess smile.

Thanks for the extra info Bruno.

ok...I've tried both the Applescript + Spark solution and this automator solution and neither will delete any file or folder. Do I need to do something to escalate the rights for these to work?
