I just ripped six CDs of the Hitchhiker's Guide radio show and stuffed it all in the empeg ... that plus over 2200 other mp3s and I'm now about 3 megs away from a full drive.

Anyone feel like trading a couple of 20 gig 3 1/2" (ATA) drives for a big laptop drive (30gig??)

They're hella-fun, but you'll need a budy in the UK to order them for you from the BBC there ... the BBCs outside the UK don't sell them ....

I bought them online and I think it was BBC, but might have been amazon.co.uk. Can't find order confirmation in my old e-mail...

Amazon.co.uk does deliver to the US. Now if I could find a UK candy store that would do the same...

A UK Candy store??? I am intrigued...

I somehow managed to get addicted to Nestlé Aero chocolate bars while I was there. For some reason these are not sold in the US and I've been in great pain since I moved here. For years now I've been buying large quantities of them on every visit to the UK, smuggling them into the US (you are not normally allowed to bring any food items into this country) and rationing them carefully until my next visit... I'm not kidding, it's that bad!

I did a quick search online, just in case somebody started selling them here since the last time I checked... and I found quite a few! Some are imported from the UK, others from Canada. The Canadian ones seem to be a bit cheaper but they might well be different. I'm not taking any chances.

Wow. I hope I'm not dreaming.

Borislav

Greetings!

Interesting! It looks like chocolate that has had gas forced through it, then quick chilled to set. That is, if the picture on the wrapper is correct. Interesting... Hmm...

Yes, they are foamed chocolate. There are mint and orange flavour ones as well.
One of my favourites, even though generally I'm not a huge chocolate fan.

I was trying to buy one of those from a vending machine in a tube stop in London and they were sold out... I ended up with a Cadbury, not a bad thing, but the Aero looked interesting... I guess I should have just gone to the Kwik-E-Mart... The Dr Pepper tasted strangely familiar, then I read the label, made with real sugar, not corn syrup, just like the Dublin Dr Pepper here in Texas, the oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant in operation, 110 years this year...

Can you get Twinkies in the UK? I know they're probably very bad for you, but I brought a few back from Canada last year and they were almost all devoured before I was unpacked!! Of course, if there's a health and safety law banning them from this side of the Atlantic, then I have no idea what I'm talking about!

Back on topic, the Hitchhikers TV series is being repeated on BBC2 over the next couple of weeks in the UK starting at 11.20pm on Monday!

You can get both Oreos and Twinkies from Harvey Nick's (food hall, top floor) and a number of other department stores with imported food sections. You'll pay a fortune though! I usually get lumbered with bringing back value packs of Oreos when I have to visit the US.

I can't believe they don't have Oreos in the UK. That's just not right. Somebody talk to Nabisco.

On the other hand, you guys get those air-chocolate bars, so we must be "even" or something.

It's nice to see that, on occasion Americans arn't the most gullible folks around. Imagine buying a chocolate bar where some of the chocolate has been replaced by air, instead of the more normal things like almonds, peanuts, pecans and such.

Maybe it's not air... maybe it's an hallucinogenic gas

(Now THAT would boost sales...)

maybe if all the empeg owners wraped up a box of Oreos and shiped them over, the v2.0 development process would speed up :)

Seem's to me I heard of at least one software development project that is powered by beer and pizza at their local dive. Those wishing to make contributions to the project send it to a special account at the pizza hall.

Sort of a pizzaware approach.
