Here in the mid-west we're loving it.
Way above normal temperatures.

In Minnesota it's like winter never happened. It has snowed a few times but it all melted the next day. I haven't even needed the snow blower.

It was 70 here in DC yesterday, but today was about 20 degrees lower. Still, usually it's in the 30's or lower.

It's varying wildly here, but above average overall. Rainy and kinda cold some days, nice sunny days others. Supposed to be 24°C tomorrow. Hopefully we get more rain soon. One area near here entered stage 4 water restrictions, forcing the LCRA to truck in water to replenish underground wells.

I think today will have the lowest high in over a week... 65F. It has been mid-70s at least the last week (unless my memory is going, but it has been gorgeous here lately).

One area near here entered stage 4 water restrictions, forcing the LCRA to truck in water to replenish underground wells. Trucking in water for wells sure is a bad situation. It’s not like the water is going to stay in the well for long. Around here a lot of the houses have cisterns and truck their water all the time. I’ve got a 1200 gallon tank on a big old truck that is used for the dry times. I think every day last winter was only a few degrees from average. I sure like the change-ups we're having this year. Kind of gives you a small break from the cold and dreary.

The weather here has been appalling, people are bundled up in parkas and heavy sweaters, and the street dogs are wearing little fleece jackets. Only half the students showed up for my Tuesday Spanish class, because the temperatures had dropped all the way down into the mid to low 70s. They looked at me like I was crazy because I biked to class as always in my bike shorts and Lycra jersey, and was perfectly comfortable. (Why wouldn't I be?) And to quote Dave Barry, no, I am not making this up! I guess moving from Alaska to Mexico has put me out of sync with local temperature coping conventions. tanstaafl.

We've been spared completely up to now. But two days ago it started freezing and just an hour ago it started snowing. It seems Winter has finally arrived.

Other than like -20 degrees, I think the worst weather to be in is rain and mid-30’s. If it’s warmer and raining you can deal, if it’s colder it’s snowing and that doesn’t stick to you. Mid-30’s and raining just wets you down and then makes you way too cold.

I agree, mid 30s and rainy is way too sweltering... I had to live through that every day in Singapore, unless it was above 40 and raining.

My lemon and lime tree have decided that it's spring and little flower buds are coming out. I hope we don't have a hard freeze between now and the real spring, otherwise I'll see no fruit this year.

I can see this winter messing up lots of things like this. I saw some geese a couple days ago and those things should be gone for a while still.

Warmer then usual here on this continent, and colder then usual across the pond. -40°C/-40°F in some places. Hope everyone over there is doing okay with the cold.

I'm headed to Seoul in a couple days. Saturday they have a high of 30F and Sunday is a high of 36F with a 10% chance of snow. I miss my 70Fs already.

Here in Rome, last week, there was the biggest snow storm in 40 years. I've never seen the city like that. I grew up in a snowy town and I am used to the cold. But here, it's a different story. 15 cm of snow just paralized the city. Stores closed, offices closed, cars stuck on the highways for hours, people lost in despair. Shocking.

On Sunday night we had a snowstorm that made streets dangerously slippery within fifteen minutes of the precipitation starting. Today it was 78°F/25.5°C. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 54°F/12°C. Wacky.

Here in Rome, last week, there was the biggest snow storm in 40 years.. 15 cm of snow .. That's massive for your area. Wow! We're getting that much here tonight, but it's a commonplace thing, and we have snowplows, parkas, winterized vehicles, ice/snow tyres, etc.. hardly the same thing as when it hits a Mediterranean city! Cheers!

We actually have some snow on the ground now. It's supposed to snow again this weekend but the forecast keeps changing so my guess is we won't see any. This is the least amount of snow I can remember ever getting in a winter.

Wacky. I was there for that snow! My wife and I visited her family in Raleigh/Cary, and we got to experience what it's like for NC folk to see snow on the ground. I never knew what it was like for New Englanders to see the reaction of DC people to the average snow we get, but I do now! They were freaking out, and I think someone said that a couple schools were closed on Tuesday, which is hilarious because by 9am Monday morning the roads were completely dry, and we ate lunch with friends outside. Bitt, next time I'm down there I'd like to buy you a cup of coffee or something...

when it hits a Mediterranean city! Almost unprecedented in coast cities, or almost such, as Rome. Some pictures attacched. Of course, all snow is gone now. Mountain cities located in the middle of the peninsula, though, get snow every year and temps way below zero, usually (-10 ~ -20). Like you said, they are prepared. That's not a big deal. (So I am afraid the mediterranea reputation is way better than reality. Even though, I love cold weather But only 100 Km away, instead, in Rome... Guys it took me two hours and half to drive home from the office, a drive entirely within the city, less than 10Km. Supermarkets were full of people buying food for the next week, just in case. Some people walking in the streets wearing ski outfits... Crazy. P.S.: Is it by design that only two out of three attached pics get a preview?

... ant this is the amt of snow on the street that paralized the city. Well, admittedly, there was more by night, that day.

P.S.: Is it by design that only two out of three attached pics get a preview? Yes, and no. You only get a preview if the picture is less than about 190KB in size. Your first two pictures were 55 and 100KB respectively, the third one (on the separate post) was 700KB, so no preview. tanstaafl.

I have been hearing about a huge storm coming for the past five days and they keep pushing the date back. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get anything it seems like the more they hype a storm the less likely it is we will get anything. Anyone else finding this to be true?
Some people take these predictions seriously and go stock up an the grocery store like they will be trapped in their house for a week. I don't worry about it until the storm is happening.

Oh for sure. The more fear they news people can instill in their audience the more they will watch and the better their ratings.
I like the new words they throw out there now – Tornadic and cyclonic flow – definitely scary sounding
Last week it was supposed to rain all week with snow flurries. That never happens and it was relatively nice as well as warm. I think they just plain got that wrong.

It's raining here now and supposed to be 40 tomorrow but everyone is talking about getting a lot of snow. Even if we get a lot the roads are cleared in a couple hours so it's not like it's a big deal.
