Resurrecting an ancient thread:

I've done two updates to the home theater with all the sales that have been announced.

. Replaced my circa 2008 Sony (52") with a new OLED model (65"). 4K and UHD are really amazing, and Android TV seems pretty good. Netflix seems to have content that really pushes the UHD aspect well (currently watching the new season of the Crown).

. The new TV needs a receiver with an HDMI audio return channel, and my old Pioneer SC-25 didn't have it. It also had trouble decoding the Dolby Digital Plus content, sometimes sounding really awful. I got a new LX701 (last year's model) on sale and everything just works now. HDMI-CEC does all the right things, so no real need for the remote control from the amp.

Setup was quick and easy. There are a ton of random features that I still need to play with, like a Chromecast (audio only?) built into the receiver. Still, so far so good.
