First off, I LOVE the transient info mode, I think it's one of the best new features in 2.0. And I also like the configurable timecodes. HOWEVER... The timecodes (obviously) aren't displayed in transient info mode because the line disappears.

So, what I'm suggesting is that the timecodes be displayable even when Info:Transient or Info:Off are selected. This would take up a bit of your visuals, but this could be offset by using the player's smaller font for the timecodes (maybe make this selectable.. personally I think the small font would be fine.) In fact, the small font is used when you're choosing WHICH timecode to use, but the timecodes themselves show up in the larger font.

I think if the smaller font was used, timecodes wouldn't interfere with visuals much, and thus would be good to use in Info:Off or Info:Transient. What say you all to this idea?

I don't want timecodes on my screen all the time. I don't want my screen to burn in.

Well screen burn can happen with anything else, from using the Track Info screen to the menus... If it was really a big deal, it could certainly be offset by randomly choosing a position for the timecode one-pixel in each direction... Wouldn't really be noticable to the user, but it'd save those same pixels from being used. It could move when tracks change, or on reboots, or whatever. Alternately, just use a lower-intensity shade for the timecode... How prevalent is burn-in on the MkII display?

(Doh I just realized my typo in the thread title...)

Ask some people that have now and next on their screens all day every day, and I bet they will have some burn in where the numbers are. Sometimes I just don't want to see anything on the screen but a visual. Maybe it could be selectable.

I agree (on both). I have quite a burn-in from Now&Next.

I had noticable burn-in too until I managed to drop my baby and break the VFD. This was after less than a year's use. I now try to avoid having static info on the screen as much as possible.
