There's a "remote guide" up at Riocar.org, linked from the FAQ. You can get to it by clicking here.
At the moment, there are some known technical issues with the popups working under Netscape 6 and Opera (if anyone has any technical/javascript recommendations, please see the thread on this subject in the Technical forum), but for most folks it should look cool.
What I'd like is for folks to look at the button functions and make sure I've got them right. Some of the functions listed are brand-new for version 2.0 of the software.
Thanks!

Great guide, Tony!
Several additions for Rio remote:
- 'Select mode' in 'Transient Info' mode also triggers info popup. I don't know whether it's just a side effect of visual reseeding, but I don't think so, bacause it happens with 'seedless' visuals, too.
- 'Cancel' is backspace in search mode (but not, say, when renaming EQ presets).
- '<<' is another backspace, only this does not work in searches, but does in, eg, EQ preset ranaming (presumably, everywhere where 'Cancel' does not - I have not checked)

That's a side effect. Toby sends a refresh message to the visual when you hit the button. I hope it's considered a bug and gets fixed.

I'll try to figure out how to note that simply. Thanks.

Noooo, it's a feature! I want it to be a feature! (Actually, I already wished for the two functions to be separated, but kept - for example, transient info redisplay could be on hold of the same button.)

Okay, I've updated it to the latest copy of the library. It should work with Netscape 6 now. Anyone want to hammer on it with their browser? It doesn't support Opera, but it should work with most Netscapes and IE's at this point.
It's right here.

yep, I want something like that too!! Often I will want to know what a song is after the info line has already disappeared, and at the moment the easiest was it to hit the Select Mode button. I don't want to have to switch through all the info modes every time!!

My preference would be to have the bottom faceplate button toggle to "info:track" from Transient instead of what it currently does (toggles to Off).

Would this be considered a "feature", and therefore not implemented until at least v2.1?

My preference would be a toggle between now&next and transient.

Yes it does (Netscape 6.1, that is). Nice work.

I was going to start a wish for this but I'll bounce it around you folk first.
there are two display states: Info and visual. Info has two sub-states: now and next, track info list. Visual has three states: Visual only (info off), info on, transient info.
In the car at least I'd like to be able to switch between the two main states by using the down button on the front panel then the remote is used to switch between the sub-states therein. ie, as per when you start the car. the info screen comes up and you can hold the button for the visual, but it comes up in the last mode
I find that having to cycle through several info screens a bit cumbersome while driving.
I haven't yet thought how it should react when on AC power.

Hi.
I would like the bottom button to cycle between "info only" (track or now/next), "visual only" (no info at all) and "transient info" (info for some time). It would be great if "track" as well as "now&next" would also be available as transient infos, not only "line" (or an aequivalent).
This, however, would imply that you have three options to adjust: the visual mode (marquesas, funnelweb, whatever), the info mode (track, now&next, line) and the display mode (info, visual, transient). A way around this could be to have the info mode button to cycle through "off, track, now&next, line, track(trans),now&next(trans),line(trans)".
Sounds confusing? Right, I am also confused. Go ahead and make some sense of it.
cu,
sven

there are two display states: Info and visual. Info has two sub-states: now and next, track info list. Visual has three states: Visual only (info off), info on, transient info.
I think it works a bit differently. To use your terms:
There's only one display state - an info screen on top of a visual screen.
The info screen can be in the following states (from memory, don't have my empeg in front of me): off, line, transient, track, now&next.
The states of the visual screen are basically all the different visuals.
Some info screens are transparent and the visual screen under them can be seen - these are off, line and transient.
The bottom button on the faceplate affects only the state of the info screen - it toggles between off and some other info state.
At least that's how it worked in 1.03, I haven't played with 2.0 enough to notice any changes.

I would simply cycle through all the view modes, as you said: off, track, now&next, line, track(trans),now&next(trans),line(trans) . And, just like it is about to be for the visual, there could be a line in the config that restricts the cycling to only the few favorite info modes you chose. What do you htink about this?

Good idea, but hold-info (which would presumably be used to toggle between full and restricted set of info modes as hold-visual is used for visuals) is already taken for details. (I finally settled on transient info mode with details when I want, well, details.)

That's true. Maybe switching from "all info mode" to "preferred info modes" can be made possible only via config.ini editing. Or, the details may me associated to some other key... I would still prefer such a solution, since I personally don't like the way now the info mode selection works.
