This has probably been covered before, but I couldn't find anything when I did a search.. Just wondering.. Before the upgrade, when I selected the top playlist to play all tunes in the player (randomly) it showed a count that was almost 3 times as many tunes as after upgrading. When I stopped to think about it...the number now is probably a lot more accurate. Anyone have any knowledge about this discripency? I'm guessing that 1.03 counted playlists as well as tunes or something.. ??

The only thing that comes to mind is not SW release related (at least not 1.03 vs. 2.0b3 - the bahaviour was different in some early pre-release betas): if you play a playlist unshuffled, the tune counter will simply count all tune appearances in child playlists; if the list is shuffled, it will count only unique tunes.

Update: I just noticed that you say you played randomly in both cases... Hmm, I don't know what that could be. Just a thought: do you by 'random' mean root playlist marked as 'always randomize' or shuffle mode switched on?

I know you said that it was random, but I second Bonzi's comment. Check out this faq entry and see if this is all you're seeing.

No...that isn't what I was seeing. I just tested it to be sure...but no... I never used shuffle mode before in 1.03. I configured the top level playlist to play randomized so that whenever i played the top playlist...it was randomized... I never even messed with the shuffle on/off feature at all...

I am finding in 2.0b3 that I *HAVE* to use the shuffle feature to see the top level playlist actually play in random order, regardless of what I set for its properties. This seems a little different than 1.03.

In any case, before, under 1.03 I was seeing nearly 14,000 tunes listed (which is obviously not right since I seem to average 2MB/min in my VBR encoded mp3 files.. Now I see around 5500 tunes for the global list.. Turning shuffle on or off has no effect on that number..

Its not that big of a deal. The 2.0b3 number is actually more correct. I was just curious as to why it showed so much before.
