I didn't see a menu option to remove the logo on the outside of the case...

I had a lot of issues with my PC (with Windows ME at the time) - I could synch and install upgrade files, but logo uploading worked 1 time out of 10 and MLord's patches never worked. After checking everything on my PC many times, I used a version of download.c for COM2 (which was identically set up to COM1) and now everything works. I could find no sensible reason for it - no resource clashes, the ports all work fine for other apps etc.
So I would recommend trying another port just to see if it works:)

sorry to be anticlimactic but i tried with a different cable (it actually has THREE 25-to-9-and-back adapters on it) and it worked fine.

this same cable failed previously on a different machine, and a different cable failed on this machine. so who knows, but consider it case closed.

Another suggestion is to mention that "deleting" logos from the empeg/rio car WON'T delete the built-in ones. I was going to do this, but then decided that I'd rather have the RIO logo rather than NO logo because it wasn't entirely clear that the "delete" option in the logo tool would only delete custom logos.

Now I know, but only after this thread.
