I have owned a MK2 since the way early days of its existance, and recently purchased a second unit when the price fell.

After receiving my second unit, I noticed the new fancy smancy Rio remote doesn't work with my old MK2 unit.

Is there a way to make the remotes cross compatible???

I have 2.00 beta7 on both units

Do you have a very old software release on the Mk2? Rio remote codes were not always defined in the software. I forget which release they appeared in, but surely v1.03 and all of the 2.0 betas have them.

The new remote should work fine with both units, provided you have recent software on them (and you said you did).

I don't know why this would be happening to you, it doesn't make sense. Can you literally place them side by side and one will respond while the other one won't? And you're sure the Kenwood remote still works on the old unit?

Or is it just that the remote itself is working intermittently? Maybe a low battery or loose battery contacts?
