I've just installed a 30 Gig IBM Travelstar-HD and was downloading the diskbuilder-image from empeg.com to my empeg. The player restarts and says (on hyperterminal):

Partition check:
hda: lost interrupt
hdb: IC25N030ATCS04-0, ATA DISK drive
hdb: IC25N030ATCS04-0, ATA DISK drive
hda: IBM-DJSA-210, ATA DISK drive
hdb: IC25N030ATCS04-0, ATA DISK drive

Then some other messages are following and that's all.
hda: lost interrupt... What does this mean? What's going on wrong here?

Thanks,

Falk

Hmmm, it's tricky...

Ok, no more interrupt-messages. But:

hda: unknown partition table
hdb: unknown partition table

Ok, power off. The original 10 Gig-Drive is now slave and the new 30 Gig is master... Power on:

hda: unknown partition table
hdb: <...all seems to be ok...>

kernel panic: unable to mount root.

Okay, this sounds good, because there can't be a root partition on the new 30 Gig HD (hda). But how to format thie disks? Both "Test builder image (2001/10/22) for empeg Mark II and Rio Car players" and "Outdated empeg car Mark II Builder (2000/08/27)" won't format my drives?

What's my fault?

The "lost interrupt" message is generally down to a poorly-attached cable.

What's my fault?

What are the symptoms? What have you tried doing? Did you check the relevant sections in the FAQ? What error messages are you seeing?

We need more information if we're to help you with this problem.
