Since when does the Kenwood player/Phat audio support ogg and wma? Could this be in the future for the empeg?

Hmmm, both the Kenwood and Phatnoise sites list WMA, but neither list OGG. Good for them if so. Wonder where he got that?

I couldn't see any way on mp3newswire to ping the author of that review (Richard Mehta?), but I did find
this story about OGG and the BBC

The in-the-trunk aspect of the Phatbox appeals to me, but that's about as far as it goes (and I have a Kenwood HU!)

This isn't an EMPEG post, so it should go in the ICE forum. [edit: had originally put off-topic]

That said, the PhatBox supports OGG *only* in its Music Manager software WIndows software. That is the information pulled directly from their page and directly into my email from one of their engineers. While you can encode and play OGG with their software, there are no provisions for playback on the actual car jukebox.

I have glanced through the review. A few of the words the author chooses to use indicate to me that they don't know too much about MP3 encoding or Digital Audio Extraction. It makes it easy to believe that they're completely off base about the OGG support.

If you want to see the different players compared, my matrix page should be up to date:
(auto)mobile Jukebox Matrix

This isn't an EMPEG post, so it should go in the OFF_TOPIC forum.

Actually, it belongs in the ICE forum.

D'oh! Good point.

For newer members on the BBS, I present this potentially useful, simple rule:

If jimhogan responded to a post, and it's NOT in OFF_TOPIC, then it's probably in the wrong forum!

Movin' it outta General now, boss! D'oh!

Well, I'd tell you where it should really go, but....
