For those of you who are having trouble with the size of config.ini getting bigger each time you synch, here is a possible reason it might happen.

The emplode internal list of favorite visuals isn't getting erased during a new download from the player. So the existing visuals are getting appended to the list each time you do more than one synch in the same session.

The work around is (I believe) to exit and re-open emplode each time you wish to perform edits.

Um, sorry but that did not work for me. I added image pan once, synched and closed Emplode. Opened it up and it had it listed twice. Would have been nice if it had worked though. I enjoyed the favorite visuals but won't use it right now.

did you delete them all, sync, close emplode before you added it?

Yes to your question.

I was trying something new and thought I had it figured out. I added a favorite visual, did the synch and closed Emplode out and when it asked to synch upon closing I said no. Opened it up and it was in there once. I removed it and synched again. Opened it up and added one and just closed Emplode and let it synch that way. Opened Emplode again and it was there once.

So I thought great, that's it. I added some music and synched and checked visuals before closing Emplode and it had added another visual to the list.

We'll get it figured out sooner or later.

Plus they were adding themselves to the config.ini file each time they were shown whenever you had the favorite visual mode selected while playing songs without Emplode even being opened. So it can't only be an Emplode problem.

Well, whatever happens, it will be fixed in the next release, so everything will be OK at that time.

I have faith in you guys. This is my first time using a beta release and it's kind of interesting.

I know this one will be FITNR, but is the bloating a problem to the player? Or does it just ignore the end of the file but manage to cope?

Yes, it's a problem to the player because the player only reads modulo-4096 bytes. If your config.ini grows to over 4096 bytes, it will forget all of the settings before byte 4096. I updated the FAQ entry on config.ini editing a couple of days ago to include this information.

It's hard enough keeping up with the posts on this board let alone the Hijack and FAQ updates!

I had this problem yesterday, where the config.ini thought I had 8192 favourite visuals. Unfortunately I thought it had all hung and pulled the power in the middle of a sync ... bad move! Had to reload B11, edit the config.ini and sync several times before it recovered.

I was trying to add a [hijack] section through the edit box in emplode and the ini had actually gotten so big it wouldn't allow me to add text.

Deleting from the edit window didn't seem to work (i.e. the act of removing any or even ALL visualizations was ignored)

What DID work was to remove all favorites from the other menu (Tools/Favourite Visuals), resync, re-add visuals.

Correct. As I state in the FAQ, do not use the Config.ini editor to change values that are taken care of by other menu items. For example, do not use the config.ini editor to edit the favorites. Use the appropriate menu option to edit the appropriate setting.

Once you have done that, then you may use the config.ini editor to change values for things which are not available in an emplode menu.
