Does anyone know if it is possible to have both a cd player and the empeg inside the dash of a 1996 camry ?

It's possible, sort of...

The Camry has a somewhat smaller DIN slot than what is standard. It's a Toyota thing.

So, to get the Empeg to fit along with the CD player, a little Dremmel work is in order. Also, it's not going to align perfectly (as you can see from the attached pic).

But, as I told the guy who did the install for me, as long as it plays music, I'm happy.

Awesome ! That is exactly how mine will have to be setup then. I have a flip down pioneer cd player as well, and i guess i will have to move it to the bottom slot for it to open properly. I was thinking of installing it myself, but since you mentioned "dremmel" work ill pay to have it done right. Thanks for the pic.

I realized I should have taken a pic of it without the empeg in there. I'll do that tonight so that you can see what it looks like. It's a pretty tight, but good fit.

Here's a pic with the Empeg out, but the Pioneer in.

And here's a pic with the Pioneer out as well.

You'll notice in both pics the empeg sled is hanging out slightly on the right. That's because the sled wasn't actually bolted to anything. The holes on the sled didn't line up with the mounting holes in the dash. But, as I said earlier, it's a tight fit. So, we basically pushed the sled in there and it holds great.

The reason it's slightly out is because I just need to push that side in a bit.

Oh, another thing you'll notice is that the bottom lip of the sled overhangs the Pionner HU. That's because there wasn't enough room to have them aligned properly right on top of each other. But, the Pioneer faceplate goes on just fine.

Overall, it seems like a somewhat mickey mouse job, but I really don't think you can do much more to make it look right. Blame Toyota for not having standard DIN-sized holes.

My 97 Camry look pretty much just like that.. only I have an empty bottom slot instead. I have to put my sunglasses someplace.. hehe..

I notice that in your pics the tabs for the empeg sled are not bent. Mine are exactly the same way, the sled fits pretty snug that I did not have to bend anything. Its a small chore to remove the sled but I can do it, its THAT snug.
