Can't respond to the poll as it doesn't have an "all of the above" option.

Either that or make it check boxes instead of radio buttons.

Yeah, I'd do better with some sort of exclude type check box, because I like mostly everything.

It says ``most enjoy''. It's impossible to apply a superlative to multiple items in a set. Pick one.

Well even most enjoy wouldnt be accurate, because what music I listen to all depends on the mood Im in.

But that still isn't accurate, cause you may like classical music more than rock, but more often be in a 'rock mood', so you'd most often enjoy rock, even though you like classical music better.

Nothing like asking a group of people who own an audio device that allows you to store hours upon hours of music
what type of music do you listen too...(It would be easer to ask what we dont listen too.....I vote country....)

If you really that great of a classical fan, you'd more often be in the mood for it rather than anything else.

What type of music do you most often hate the most? Be as specific as possible, given the options.

If I see anyone select ``Other'', I'll be very sad.

Agreed - with the addition of Dance/Techno etc
God, I can't stand that stuff. At least country is real music (although I dislike it fairly intensely) but this whole bleeps/DJ mixing/Bassy modern stuff just annoys me.
It really ruins things when one of your favourite pubs with a great jukebox full of classic rock decides to up the lighting and run a house DJ, thus alienating the current heavy drinking clientele.

Grrrrr

House DJ as in Chicago House? That stuff is crap. I'm from Detroit and I don't even like most Detroit Techno. Big Beat (like the Pop of Techno) and any down-tempo stuff like Trip-Hop is simply the sexiest stuff out there.

No one hates that "Light Jazz" stuff as much as me?!?!

1) What is the difference between techno, dance, big beat, trip-hop, etc, etc?

2) How can music be sexy? Does the music give you sexual pleasure?

There is, and always has been, a very close relationship between sex and music.

Many of the techniques used in composing and making music have sexual parallels. The concept of the crescendo comes to mind immediately, but there are many more subtle parallels that can be drawn, as well. Musicians know this intuitively and exploit it fully when making their music.

A good piece of music can evoke similar responses as sexual activity can. I'm not saying a piece of music can give you an orgasm, but I've certainly had music give me a rush or give me goose bumps. And no one will deny that the proper music can set a certain "mood" for a couple in the right situation.

1.) Techno is a broad genre in which many other sub-genres fit into (just like there is Rock and Roll and sub genres of Rock and Roll include Indie Rock, Metal, etc.). Big Beat is like Chemical Brothers, the Prodigy, etc. Trip-Hop uses hip-hop style beats with usually slow tempos, dark vocals and "scratching". Examples of trip hop would be Portishead, Morcheeba and Massive Attack.
2.) I'll tell you when you are old enough to have sex.

But I wouldn't need to sleep with Laetitia Casta to tell you if she was sexy or not.

Hmmm... I'd say country, but Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline redeem that category...after a good 5 minutes, still can't decide between New Country and Teen Pop.. need to make check boxes next time.

very thin line these days, I beleive this song sits on it. I just find it wierd that a lot of critics think of closer with its video is a work of Genius... looks more like a work of dementia

Actually, the closer song isn't about being sexy but rather about degrading one's self by engaging in meaningless sex. Now, if (times you've heard it in a strip club) > (times you've heard it anywhere else), then that might explain how someone would find it sexy. (Although, I personally find going to strip clubs depressing and once was enough for me.)

The video for Closer is based on the photography of some crazy guy who went to South America and photographed dead bodies in all sorts of "artistic" poses. I forget his name. I bought the book because I am a big NIN fan, and have been since before he/they exploded on Lolapalooza. The book was sealed at the store, so I couldn't view it beforehand. That should have been a clue! The book is pretty disturbing once you realize that it isn't fake. Whereas Michelangelo studied the bodies of dead street people to learn anatomy, this guy photographed severed heads and what not. I'm a pretty openminded guy and tend to like the "odd" things in life, but this is one of the very few things I have ever found offensive. Maybe if I read the whole book, I'd get a better understanding for it -but I also have a weak stomache, no matter how strong my natural curiousity is.

Erm - you guys might find this wierd, but "Closer" was our choice for first dance at my wedding which was oh...4 years ago. It just happened to be the song my wife and I first danced (loosely speaking) to.
To save alienating grannies etc I produced a wonderfully hacked up version with all swearing replaced with references to fluffy things. I'll have to look out the mp3 and post it, cos it made us laugh.

In the end, due to pressure from my mother-in-law, the actual first dance was a St. Bernard Waltz, which was probably a little more graceful, but soon afterwards we had much metal.

Ahhhh the memories.

p.s. Offtopic even for this, but for anyone thinking of a fun wedding style, try an Orcadian wedding. (Orkney - small group of islands off the north coast of Scotland) The main focus (like all weddings) is getting drunk and dancing - this is facilitated by a large quantity of Cog. This is like mulled wine, but with the wine replaced by spirits, and the bride and groom carry a small two- or three-handled bucket of it around to share with all the guests. Wheeeeee!!

When all are good and drunk, Ceileidh dancing ensues - with local variants of all the dances. For example, the Orcadian 'Strip The Willow' is much faster, more tiring and less complicated than the normal version so it is easy for the booze-addled uncles to cope with.

I'll stop now, 'cos I'm wasting time at work

I can't speak for anybody else but my relatives are wierd enough anyway when sober. I wouldn't want to tempt fate by getting them all seriously drunk and trying to make them dance
