OOPS. I bid on a bunch of these damned things on eBay(it's so addictive!) and I won. Not just one, though. Now I've got over $2000 on my credit card and need to make some quick cash, so I'm not looking to make money off these, I just need a quick sale. Here's what I've got:

20GB - $500 (got it for $490)
30GB - $570 (2 of these, got them for $568 and $585)
60GB - $700 (got it for $710)
and i'll pick up the shipping up to $10.

yes that's right, 60GB - and still with warranty seals in place. Don't ask, I don't know. It may be two drives, it may be one. I haven't looked at it closely enough yet, but the guy told me they sent it to him "as a fluke, but it's one drive," and it's never been opened, and it's got the packing slip and stuff so the warranty's good for another 5 months.

I have not decided yet which one I'm going to keep; debt sucks, but wow...60 gigs...anyway if I sell that one, I'm pretty firm on the 700.

I'll take paypal, or a check, or whatever. We can work something out, as long as I get the $ somehow.

There's nothing unusual about a 60GB configuration - it was a standard model, fitted with 2 x 30GB drives.

If the warranty seals are intact then it definitely isn't a single drive.

Won't be needing a tuner, I like the one on my main deck just fine. Anyone know about FM modulators? I'd like to be able to turn my car into a portable radio station so that I can transmit to the rest of the gang when we convoy down to Arizona this summer...Anyone know how good the range is on those things? Or how to amplify the signal (hypothetically, of course, because to do so would be against FCC rules)?

ohh, and green might look pretty...and red...and maybe if i get bored, the clear one...neon colors? hmm...

and where is a good place to get drives? i ended up with the 20 gig one...was hoping to be able to keep the 60 gig, but figured i could always upgrade later.

Went and looked at the links you posted.
One thing I am curious about is most of the Mark II's you find on Ebay all use the same picture for it which uses my Smoke lens.
I wonder where that original picture came from?

I don't think that's a smoke lens. I think that's one of the early empeg blue lenses that tended more towards cyan, from the early days. I think that's an original Empeg photo.

That one has 3 pictures. The large one in the middle is the one I'm talking about.
Blue? I know my monitor is dark but the color is fine and the letters in the picture look like the cyan vfd display like it looks through my Smoke, albeit dark cause of my monitor.

That picture (commonly used in auctions etc.) is not (I believe) an actual photo of the screen, or at least, not actually on the player shown. It's a composite of a player switched off, with a screen-grab placed over the screen area.

For example, just look how small the screen area is, and how far from the edges the extents of the display go, compared to a genuine Mk2 - there'd be no way you'd get top-left cutoff if the screen was really like that.

I believe that shot was put together by an agency in Oregon, or possibly in-house. Tim (time) would know for sure. Either way, it's been around for ages.
