Any chance that the speakers are wired up 2-Ohm and the amp is not rated as being 2-Ohm stable? In this scenario you could be drawing a lot more power out of the amp than you think.

Oh, wait -- you said it was installed by Cambridge Car Audio. The chance of them making that kind of mistake is practically nonexistant.

Speaker impedance is definitely not an issue. We checked on more than one occasion. In the end, the only conclusion we could come to was that it's somehow related to the signal input level, and that the amp's just not happy with the Empeg's high voltage preouts, particularly if there's any degree of clipping the input signal. Has the PG amp been behaving OK so far Paul?

Hey -- welcome back, stranger. By my reckoning, it's been well over a year since the last time you posted on this bbs. I thought you'd abandoned us.

Have you been lurking in the background all this time and just not had anything to say? Or have you really been gone all this time?

Been lurking all along. Work commitments, etc, tend to leave me with very little free time at the moment, so I don't really get the chance to post. Besides which, I'm far too busy ripping my music collection

Hi Dominic,

I think you supplied me with a Genesis amp when you fitted my empeg a few months back.
Its working fine now but should I be expecting to run into problems with it?
