What's the likelihood of AAC being licensed for the empeg?

Digging about on the Dolby site gave me http://www.aac-audio.com/

It doesn't actually give the terms and conditions of the licence (you have to contact them), but it does say:

AAC is a product of the combined efforts of several organizations: AT&T Corp., Dolby Laboratories, Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, and Sony Corporation. AAC is being made available to third parties on reasonable and non-discriminatory terms. In order to streamline the licensing process, the AAC licensors have appointed Dolby Laboratories to administer an AAC licensing program.

Wonder how long it will take me to re-rip all my albums

Nick.

AAC is very expensive to licence, especially for a low volume product. I doubt we could provide it as a free upgrade, but who knows what the future may hold.

Seems to me that the cost of the licence is very discriminatory. Somebody go kick Dolby for me will you. Ho hum.
