I guess this should normally go into the "Installation" area, but I am just such a happy camper that I just wanted to shout for joy and tell everyone how AWESOME by Empeg is now that its finally installed. I bought it a year ago and its only now getting installed in my car for the first time. Its quite a long story as to why it has taken this long. But at any rate.. This thing kicks butt!

I already have it full of quality encoded MP3's when they did the install and the guy at the store was blown away by it. Apparantly many people in his line of work seem to think that MP3's are for high school kids or college students that can't afford to buy CD's. They've mostly only heard cheap quality players with lousily encoded MP3 files. 5 minutes in my car and the installer is ready to buy one now.. He was totally floored!

Anyway, I have a webpage dedicated to the install if anyone wants to check it out. Long live Empeg!

Very impressive. What else did you lose, apart of the Audi stereo? did you have to relocate some controls, or anything like?
Also I find it brilliant the way your audio shop handled the subwoofer & amp install. It is mostly impressive in terms of stealth.
Congrats. Now That I've finally finished with my strangling level of debt, I will probably get my first empeg, after years of reading about and craving for one, way beyond when empeg.com sounded like a crazy project, I'll be able to get one! Very very happy indeed (and just in time, apparently...)

I lost the original subwoofer, the door to the compartment that the subwoofer is now in and the audi head unit(all of which can go right back in very easily when I'm ready to sell the car.

I kept the stock Bose amp/speakers for up front. I didn't lose any controls from the dash that were not part of the stereo. However, with an aftermarket head unit, I now do not have the capability of adjusting the volume from the steering wheel, etc.. And the factory tuner used to show the channel or CD track number in the speedometer computer display... OH well, I can live with that!

There's got to be a solution to the lost display/steering wheel controls thing. If you are keen enough that is Getting the steering wheel volume control working shouldn't be toooo hard surely
