due to the release notes which say it's recommended to totally uninstall 1.x- version of emplode before installing emplode v2.0
what would happen if i wouldn't uninstall the old version and install the new version in a different directory (as it does itself)?
would both versions work?
anyone knows?

Both versions would run, however the 1.03 emplode will not talk to the 2.0 player, so unless you plan to downgrade the player to 1.03, there's no point in hanging on to it.

Even if you did downgrade the player, you can always re-install 1.03 if you had to.

tfabris: "...however the 1.03 emplode will not talk to the 2.0 player, so unless you plan to downgrade the player to 1.03..."

I doesn't seem that 2.0 Emplode will talk to a 1.03 player, either. I got a dead-end "the operation completed successfully" error when I tried to get 2.0 to talk to my "spare" Empeg -- until I upgraded it. I verified the same behavior on my Empeg #1.

I will say that one great thing about having a spare is that I can use my original for non-beta "production" while I inflict all the beta code on the new one. I'm also using the "spare" to completely redo playlists and such from scratch -- running MP3 Tag Studio on everything and cleaning up naming, details before moving them on to the new Empeg. When it's cooked I'm hoping I can clone it all back to Empeg #1

Oh, and version 2 is completely bitchin'
