Computer Geeks has a Fujitsu 30GB drive for quite a good deal.

Just wondering if anyone thinks I'll have any problems using this drive with the 10GB IBM that my RioCar came with?

djc any luck with the 30GB you ordered?

the drive arrived yesterday, but i haven't had a chance to install it yet. i'm hoping to take a crack at it tomorrow, and i'll post the results here.

everything went well with my install. the new drive seems fast and quiet, and i had no problems fitting it in my mk2a (thank you fujitsu for including the jumper block!). after stress testing for a couple of hours, i set up about 35GB of music to sync overnight, and everything looks great this morning.

Cool, I think I'll order one! Hopefully it works well with the IBM drive as the master :)

Congrats. So I take it the FAQ had all the necessary information you needed?

the FAQ was excellent.

i actually upgraded two units; on the first, i added a 30GB drive to the existing 10GB fujitsu. with the second, i replaced the 10GB drive with two new 30GB drives. i decided to venture into unknown territory by installing both new drives simultaneously, and see how the builder would handle it. in fact, it formats up both drives without a hitch. however, if the serial port output is to be believed, it only stress tests the first drive in the pair. i let it run a couple of hours, and it never seemed to touch the second drive at all.

nonetheless, i have loaded some music on that unit as well, and (other than known issues with timeouts under 2.0b3), it seems fine.

after playing with the 60GB unit for a couple of hours, my remote is no longer responding, even after reboots. i suppose that's another topic for another thread, though...

Could be the battery in the remote. Always check that first.

Edit: You still have the two units there? Does one unit respond to the remote, but the other does not? Do you have the remote for the other unit? If possible, narrow it down that way.

well, in the time it took me to go get the other remote, the first one started working again (they both work now). from a quick search here on the board, that doesn't seem to uncommon, so i won't worry about it for now.

thanks!
