I just got my empeg today thank god and well it doesnt have any warrantee stickers on it. You think they will still honor the warrantee?

They have ways of knowing when a user opens the unit, so don't crack it open just because there are no seals on the outside.

And yes, they will still honor the warranty. The issue was that the empeg stickers placed on the top of the case were broken by enough normal usage of the player. Both mine on my Mark 2 were broken completly around the 6th month.

The warranty stickers are inside the case. They're attached to the drive sled and the inside wall. So essentially you can "legally" take off the outside cover and peek inside, but if you remove the drive sled, all bets are off.
Z~

Note: I dont encourage or recommend taking your empeg apart. If you do, and you break it, then you dumb. And its up to sonic blue to decide wether or not to honor your warranty... z.

That's very true - there are a number of hints that a player has been opened. But sometimes it's much more obvious:

Some time ago, I had a player in for a fairly minor problem - in his emails the guy was quite insistent that he'd never opened the player and that the seal on the outside of the player had just broken in normal use.

Once the player arrived, it was quite clear that he'd opened it - the lid tabs were bent out of shape and had plier marks all over them.

I remeber working in marine electroincs and we got a unit in that was broke and we opened it up and found inside a board that was one of the first ones to come out about three years previous in a unit about 2 months old.

Turned out the bloke had swapped over boards with someone to get a new unit.

I guess chimps are only as good liars as they are mechanically adept. The lids on the MK2a units are quite easy to take off without leaving a mark.

Given that the Void If Removed stickers are inside now, taking off the lid no longer voids the warranty?

I do especially like the No user serviceable parts inside notice on the back.
