I think that my display has somehow broken, but before I sit on hold with customer service tomorrow, I figured I'd throw a post up here-

The display has developed two discolored lines slightly to the right of the center of the display. The lines run vertically from the top to the bottom of the display. They are one pixel wide and two pixels apart. They are not completely dead, just much darker than the rest of the display. I saw them a few days ago, but they disappeared after a few minutes. now they've come back and won't go away.

I can't imagine why this has happened. I treat this thing like it's made of glass. I guess I have some hope that this is a known issue, perhaps something that can be fixed with a jiggle of some internal component. Thanks in advance for any help.

Definitely contact support. Some display boards have that problem (it's very rare). It's not anything you did to it, it just happens to some units.

I have sent off an e-mail. I hope that is the address for US support? I guess I'll find out soon enough. Thanks for the help!

After-sales support is in the UK. It services all of SB's customers. The only US/UK dichotomy is in the handling of actual sales.

Really? Boy, THAT doesn't sound like it's going to be a very fast turn around. It's going to be rough living without this thing. It makes me feel grumpy just looking at cds now.

Boy, THAT doesn't sound like it's going to be a very fast turn around.

You will be surprised. I don't know what their current backlog is, but there have been stories of people sending their players off for repair on a Monday, and having them back the following Friday.

No guarantees this will happen in your case, all I'm saying is that it will be faster than you think.

I think I'll update the FAQ with this information.

Hachi machi! I guess I figured it would be coming back by tugboat or something. I can live with that kind of turn around time. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks!

Oh yeah, I didn't think that there were only slow options, I just figured that they would only pay for shipping by banana boat or something. I don't know why I keep thinking that dealing with the company is going to be a pain - just years of dealing with crappy companies, I guess. Clearly dealing with the RioCar guys is going to be a pleasure.
