Hi guys,

My PC died so I've got a loaner Mac from work. I've ripped a ton of CDs with iTunes already and iTunes is properly tagging the track numbers and displaying the CDs to me in the order in which the appear on the CD.

However, when I drag the tracks into jEmplode, it seems that the tracks become reordered to be in alphabetical order. How can I get these files onto my Empeg in the correct order given what I have?

Thanks,
Christian

BTW, when's the next Northern California meet?

Actually, the problem seems to be that the Track column is just the same as the Position column. I really don't have a problem if the files show up in some random order in jEmplode, just as long as I can re-order by Track number. But if the Track gets messed up as well, I'm really at a loss.

Alright, for the archives, here's what the problem was:

iTunes imports songs with 2.4 id3 tags. I redid the tags as 2.3 and now it's working great!

Now the next problem. I'm getting modem speeds via Ethernet. Any ideas?

Yeah, your ISP put you on "smallband", because you've exceeded your download ratio ? (at least that's what they do over here)

Heh, I'm not sure where over there is, but it sounds like it sucks. Even if my connection to the Internet was affected, it wouldn't change my home network speed.

Here is Belgium.

Yeah, this is the policy of most local ISP's over here : you get a download limit of 10gig/month. If you exceed that limit, you get thrown onto "smallband" which means that they effectively cut the speed of the broadband connection to that of the level of an ordinary analog modem. When the DL counter drops under 10gig again, the connection is restored.
The *really* bad part is that only 1.5 of those 10gigs can be upload traffic, and I reach that limit pretty fast.

And yeah, it sucks.

Concerning your network problem, have you checked your cables ?

If you were on a PC, I'd say to check that you didn't adjust things like the MaxMTU and the TCP packet size in an attempt to optimize online gaming. But you said you were on a Mac, so I don't know how those things are handled. Re-post that question as its own thread under "Off Topic" and I'm sure some of the Mac experts on the BBS will help you out.
