Anyone know where I can find a replacement face plate for my MKII? The holes that hold teh screws in place have disintegrated a way and now the screws basically aren't holding the faceplate down. I need a new faceplate. Is anyone making these?

Rob Schofield has plenty of them.

I've always wondered if epoxy could help in this situation. Could epoxy be put into the holes to build them inward a bit? Then, drill out any excess and thread the screw in there. Wouldn't the threads dig into the hardened epoxy, making a great fit?

I did get a couple replacement fascias from Rob for this same problem. It is now happening again.

The epoxy idea sounds good, but is there a way to avoid this in the future? I made sure not to over tighten the screws. They only thing I can think of that could be causing this is I take my Empeg out every day and put it in the case (empeg branded fabric carry-all mini man bag). It's a snug fit. Toting the bag around could be working the fascia screw columns back and forth until they crumble...?

Anyway... until one of the metal NewNewFaces become available, I am looking for ideas.

I've got one fascia that's the same way, and it did happen shortly after I aquired an empeg bag. Probably a coincidence, as it doesn't seem to be too wide spread a problem.

Overtightening, I'm afraid.

It is possible that the display is not aligned correctly with the front edges of the steel casing. To prevent this from cracking the fascia, first loosen the four tiny cross-head screws that secure the display module (two on each side of the player). Then install the fascia, and gently tighten the allen bolts to secure it. Finally stick a double-folded banknote between the handle and the fascia (as a spacer), and then re-tighten the four tiny cross-head screws again.

Remove the banknote, and snail-mail it to me or Rob.

Done.

Unless you use a substantial banknote. In which case you would NOT remove it and you would then snail-mail it to me. After "processing", I will send it where it needs to go.

This is a really interesting idea... I will have to try it.
