I was going to write a long long post about the problems I've had, but I really can't be bothered. I'll just bullet them instead:

1 - Discovered that my VW comes complete with an antanae (sp?) amplifier anyway, so I'm glad I didn't go and buy one.

2 - The original installer failed to mention to me that some of the cables had come out of the crimp connectors. Thanks to David Moss for the info on which wires went where and how to disassemble the connector block (by the way, I found that an opened paper clip was the best way of pulling the crimp connectors out).

3 - The original installer also failed to mention that he'd taken a pair of wire cutters to the power lead to the tuner connector. Thanks again to David Moss for assuring me that it was the power connector and not anything else.

4 - 1.03rc1 didn't work. Took me bloody ages to work out that I actually needed the final 1.03 release.

5 - The tuner worked fine, but I had one bugger of a job getting the damn cage back into the car. Luckily there was room enough for the tuner underneath the cage, but the wires at the back of the cage really made things difficult. In the end I decided to let brute force triumph over care and jammed the git in.

6 - It all seems to work, but the DVLA still haven't issued me with a bloody tax disk which means that I can't actually drive the car in the UK at the moment. The poor little thing's been sat on my drive for the past two months. Still, the upside of all this is that I had to get the speedo changed to show miles instead of kilometres - before I took the car in it showed 18000Km, it now shows 30 miles. Nice.

Nicholas (who's still jobless).

Please? Erm. Sorry. I thought I answered your question. Did you mean something else?

Nicholas.

By God, this BBS is heading steadily downhill if this is an example of current conversation....
