Eggcelent sales here... 20GB for 99$, 30GB for 146$... Not sure if these are compatible with the empeg (haven't bothered to look at the model no's yet).

Anyone?

Too bad they don't ship to Canada. I ended up having to pay $197 plus $22 shipping for my 30GB Travelstar. Which was still cheaper than I could buy it wholesale up here. Then again it was a slightly different model number which does typically sell for a bit more on the net than the one listed at Newegg (same 2yr warranty though and same specs as far as I can tell).

Just got this back from one of my co-workers - Greg :

$72 for a 40 and $109 for the 60.

http://www.compgeeks.com/products.asp?cat=HDD

2 x 60 = 120gb, $218

just thought that was interesting to note.

Too bad you aren't from Windsor (or luckily you aren't from Windsor depending on how you look at it!) or I'd be willing to drive one across the bridge for you. Unless anyone here works for customs in which case I was merely kidding around.

SO am I.
Actually, I virtually can't find a 48Gb in any eshop in Italy. I just can't believe NOBODY has it. eshops in the US usually don't ship to Italy, plus import taxes would make it too expensive. So, I already posted this in the Off Topic forum, but maybe here I'll be luckier :)
My question is, does anybody know an e-store in Europe, possibly in the Euro-countries (should be slightly cheaper) that has IBM 48Gb?

Thank you in advance.

IBM manufactures some of their 2.5" models in the Czech Republic, but I guess most of them are destined for overseas distribution.

Unfortunately, being in Canada, I don't make a habit of ever looking to Europe for mail-order, so I'm not even familiar with any eStores.

However, I'd look up a local (or national) distributor for IBM's mobile drives and call them up. Ask them for a list of stores they supply with that product. You can talk to IBM to find out what distributor you should talk to if you can't get that information yourself.

www.cyberport.de here in Germany has 48GB IBM drives for 1149 DM. No idea if they will ship to Italy though.

Eventually I decided to buy a 30Gb, which is still more convenient in terms of cost/mb. I'll eventually replace my 12Gb with a 60Gb later on next year. So far 42 is enough. So far... Wow, you really never have enough disk space. I always believed so and I always get a confirmation of that...
Ok, soon I'll upgrade my empeg and I'll keep you posted :)
Thank you all for your help, as usual!
