Just upgraded my girlfriends player with the hard disk from my dead laptop.

One shall point i would pick out in the Guide is i was surprised at how quick the drive was formatted. Is this normal or is it espescially quick?

Greetings!

Basically, it should be fairly quick. If you are using the diskbuilding utility, it is just laying down the partitions and generating the filesystems. It should be quick, but that depends on the size of your disk and how long you let the stress test run.

I've recently rebuilt my 10gig MkIIa.

The harddisk builder utility only took about 10-15 secs before it started it's stress test.

I also found it was very quick. I actually used the HD utility twice because I couldn't believe it could be that fast, and I hadn't paid any notice to the things hyperterminal showed whilst performing the format. (I know I can scrollback in hypertrm, but I figured I'd redo the whole process anyway). The second time it was just as fast, but I guessed it was allright since hyperterm didn't show any errors.

I was right. All went fine from there.
