Anyone know where to get a source switching relay like the Sony XA-39II Source Switching Relay with RCA Inputs/Outputs? Thanks

where to get a source switching relay like the Sony XA-39II

The XA-39II is no longer available, as you no doubt know. The nearest thing to it seems to be this but it operates a bit differently from the Sony switch.

Here is the beginning of a thread that discusses it.

Yeah, just read that thread and you'll have an idea of what you're in for. Good luck on the install. What are you putting the setup in and will you post pictures?

It looks to me like the MPSS-4 should work just like the Sony switch if you just ignore parts of the wiring guide - ie don't use any wires from the switch to power/accessory on your empeg or other HU.

Having looked at the picture at Crutchfield, there does look to be a unified amp remote turn on output, even though the blue wire is depicted as an input on the installation sheet, it is physically located together with the RCA outs on the "output" side.

It's perfectly simple to make your own, if your stuck, but not much cheaper - but you can make it do exactly what you want.
You only need the most rudimentary soldering ability.
I've done it successfully in three different vehicles, in each case, the requirement was different. If you send me a personal message with your requirement and a fax number, I'll be happy to draw one up. But try the proprietary one first.

Not sure if it's still available, but Alpine makes one also (at least they did). I have one around my garage somewhere, I'll see if I can get the part # for you.

I was just trying to help decide with my cousin how he wants to setup his audio system in his Impreza Wrx. Bascially we just decided on a different way to wire everything up. I'm still trying to get a hold of an empeg. He can;t really spend more than $500 +/- a few dollars on a head unit. thanks for the help.

I wouldn't mess with the wiring on the MPSS-4. I sure would like both of my HU's to be on all the time, but I think it may get funky when both signals hit the MPSS-4. I think that it powers down one HU to make the source switching easier. Hell, maybe is's super lame and just uses power cycling as a "source switch". Either way, I've learned to live with it and love it.
