I finally took my Feb issue of WIRED out of the plastic...flipped to the PLAY fetish section to look at the new gadgets. I found something of interest.
It is a Hard Drive based MP3 player for the car from Rockford Fosgate called the Omnifi.

Not much info there...just the usual tease.
Mentions a 20 Gig HD, and a WI-FI add-on!
The unit is $599 + $99 for the wireless upgrade.

The mag layout shows some sort of a proprietary HD enclosure for it.

Anyone hear about this thing? Apparently it debuted at CES...no mention of it on the RF site though.

Have a look at http://www.simpledevices.com/index.shtml which has a little more info.

I saw that...but the picture there is a detail-less rendered thing. The picture in WIRED looks like an actual product. I wonder when it is is supposed to be produced.

If my Empeg had wireless access I'd be in heaven.
