Don't tell me they've been using Marvin as a web server.

There were some problems with Apache on the server (BBS down, timezones getting confused), and he made some tweaks to the Apache server to fix them. The "too many connections" errors were a result of these tweaks, so he's reversed the tweaks until he can find a proper solution for both issues.

(I finally braved the 2500 unread posts to get back into general)

It seems something with a recent Apache upgrade broke the BBS from being able to use persistant MySQL connections. The apache process was holding it open, so over time it built up to the limit. I have since disabled persistant connections for the board, and tweaked Apache a bit more, so things should be fixed for now.

I'm going to try and do the update to 6.2 here by the end of the month to gain any optimizations out of the new code. The recent events put the BBS in the spotlight on the box it is hosted on, and thats a bad thing if I want to keep the boards hosted there free.
