I'm sitting here listening to my empeg on shuffle (Random), and it just played "Summer in the City" by "The Lovin' Spoonful".

Just as the song was getting to the end, I thought about digging out my remote, or firing up emplode, so that I could follow it with "Summer in the Studio", Kinobe's chilled out cover of the same song. In the end, I couldn't be bothered -- too much hassle.

No need: the empeg had already queued it up as the next track.

Spooky.

Yes; it's done that to me too. This is an effect of having all the music you love instantly accessible, of course.

It reminds me of an idea I had a while back where you could press a button on the remote (e.g "Mark" thrice in quick succession) and then enter a number between 1 and 9, and the empeg would remember that as your liking for the link between the previous song and the current. This would combine with a random setting that would favour progressions of songs of which you liked the linking. (That sentence doesn't look right, but I've tried and failed to rephrase it - do you get what I mean?) You could also set this in emplode so that you could tell the empeg that you always preferred to link together an album like Dark Side Of The Moon (set join preference 9 on all but the last song).

When is the 'times skipped' number going to be implemented? Or is it working in 3.0 and I just haven't been brave enough to upgrade from 2.0? My plan is to weed out the songs I don't like by deliberately skipping over them, and then finding the songs I consistently skip over and permanently delete them. I don't yet know enough about programming the shuffle settings in the config.ini to know how to make it prefer songs that I haven't skipped over, though...

Just thinking the thoughts,

Paul

Greetings!

I know that feeling. I have had that happen a few times.

That is how I know that my player is trying to make me insane. Otherwise why would it play a rather quick rock tune (think Iron Maiden) followed immediately by an ultra-mellow folk ditty (think Peter Paul & Mary).

Yup, that's happened to me many times. Thought it was a feature though . . .;)

My empeg loves me, don't you Christine?

I dropped her once, but the next morning she was good as new.

I think my empeg was telling me to slow down with this evening's random selection (in order):

Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews
Maryville Breakdown - (A bluegrass group I never knew)
Everything is Broken - Bob Dylan
Mustang Sally/GTO - John Lee Hooker

Perhaps it's the northern lights.

Even freakier,
Just uploading an album that has been freshly ripped, played in random, and then the empeg playing all the hit or your favorite songs first!!!
It blows my mind every time!!!

My empeg sometimes managed to play a song then, next, play a cover of that song by someone else. Or, when I listen to my Jazz genre on random, it has paired up the same tune done by different artists. My empeg clearly knows I love the comparison of tunes like that. ;^)
