Is there any documentation for the Karma protocol2?

I suspect that you'd need to be under an NDA to get access to the spec/details, but there was someone busy in the Karma areas trying to reverse-engineer it (with some sucess). Have you had a nose round down there?

I originally envisaged having a server process running as a daemon (inplemented as a state machine) on the empeg to catch protocol2 requests, then feed the player with protocol1. This would not be trivial: main problem was the difference in the dB format.

Needless to say, I got no-where and have not done it.

Honestly, I've never known why Rio won't open up the protocol. It seems to me to be totally counterintuitive. I don't personally think there's really anything in the protocol that is all that proprietary and it would just allow people to write cool apps. It only helped the Empeg, IMHO, to open up the protocol specs. Every couple months I request that they just open source RMML. Oh well.
