Can people travelling from the UK to the event by boat give me an inidicator of which boat is the one of choice? From what I understand, the early HSS from Harwich - Hoek is the one of choice.

Please post here. Also, various mini-meets in the UK and NL are being arranged prior to the meet: could you post here with times and places to co-ordinate efforts?

Eryl and I will be on the Friday 10:40 HSS, in our silver Scooby (which may or may not have an empeg on-board depending on how much time I find between now and then).

Too bad they won't let you stay in the hold. It'd be a good opportunity to wire it up.

I was trying to dream up some scam whereby I could get everyone else at the meet to install it for me

You could try your luck on Saturday night, but I don't know wether I'd want a bunch of pissed blokes trying to drill a hole in your firewall....

I think that that would put you in line for the worst install prize on a "too many cooks spoil the broth" basis.

Thanks for your quick defence of my "electricity pipes", but I think that you probably meant bulkhead!

Yup sorry, bulkhead. Maybe I'm pissed already.....

Seriously though, it might be a laugh to do an install at the meet. Assuming you've got all the bits. I'd definitely recommend getting adaptor leads assuming the scooby doesn't already have ISO plugs. That way the head scratching is reduced.

There is a car audio store not that far away from the meet in the event you want to try this.

If there is a group of empeggers going on this boat, then I will be arranging a tour of the bridge and (if possible) the engine rooms (4 jet engines of the same type used on Jumbo jets). Keep posting otherwise it won't be worth the effort!

I'll bring the selotape, double sided sticky tape, bluetac, empty toilet rolls and the blue peter presenter that you always fancied.

Patrick and I will be on the Friday morning HSS (coming back on the Monday evening sailing). A bridge/engine tour would be great - they told us no way last time we asked.

If I don't get it fitted before the 8th then I'll probably bring the bits along. I've just ordered the amp (Sony XM 444), wiring kit and ISO adapter.

If nothing else people can point and laugh while I fail to install it

It was tried, just the Captain wouldn't permit it on the day due to workload.

The 444 looks pretty good, I've got a 222 which I was going to put in the glovebox of the clio before I decided to trade it in.

That bad, eh? Maybe if it were chilled a little more before drinking.

We had a bottle of the 444 last night. Very nice Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon. Might have to stock the cellar with a few more of them now. Haven't tried the 222 -- we're not into whites quite as much as the reds.

(Wyndham Estates Winery uses "Bin XXX" names to identify their wines.. the 555 Shiraz is also quite nice)

The only downside of the 444 is its bright red colour...

I did look at one of the newer Sony's (which are a nice anonymous grey colour), but they are quite a bit larger.

Get yourself round some Chateau Musar or some nice Faustino (Tesco were selling Faustino 1 for only a tenner not so long ago) and say that! (At least then you'll be complaining it tastes like strong Ribena.)

I guess this is a bit late (I just got back from the US), but the Amsterdam mini-meet tonight is definitely on - meeting spot is Onder de Ooievaar, corner of Prinsengracht and Utrechtsestraat (or if you arrive early, at my house, Prinsengracht 862).
