I'm thinking about purchasing an empeg and I had a quick question. Are there any visualizations like the ones in the most recent Windows Media Player? Those WMP players are really cool - and I've heard empeg's visualizations are also great. Is there a site I can check them out at?

Excuse the lack of address but if you go to the geek site and go to the links there is a video of a Mk1 doing it's stuff

It is steve hartmans site there maybe another place but i can't think of where it is at the moment

But trust me the visualizations are only a small part of what an Empeg can do

maybe someone else can verify this, but i thought either the geek site or the developer site had animated gifs of the visualizations. either way, i can highly recommend them. when i bought mine, i had heard all about them, but i thought i wouldn't be very impressed by them. i thought they would be kind of dull and boring, but they are really crisp and awesome.

The thing the photos and animated GIF's can't convey is the 100Hz screen refresh and almost zero persistance of the VFD. This results in very crisp smooth animation.

You can view a number of the visuals here. This set uses a higher frame rate than those found elsewhere.

I find the animations don't work very well under Internet Explorer, but they seem to work OK under Netscape or Opera.

Not bad. Thanks for the link. The visualizations came out fine in IE.

Still not as cool as Windows Media Player 7's visualizations.

Those visuals aren't a patch on what we have coming in 1.1. Also, the gif's don't convey the full impact - for example you can easily get so engrossed in Funnelweb that it isn't unknown for people to sit and watch it for an hour or more (especially the new, as yet unreleased, version).

Yeah I have found myself doing that... :)

One of the few downsides to bringing it into the office to listen to while I am working...

Sounds like when 1.1 comes out I am going to have to face it away from me or I will never get anything done...

Cool. Look forward to them. Almost ready to order my new empeg...

One more question. Will a detachable faceplate ever be an option in the future?
