HI All:

Now that I have my tuner, I finally installed my empeg in my 98 BMW M3 complete with matching red lense to match the "BMW orange" dash lighting color. (The match is perfect).

Unfortunately the red lense seriously reduces the effective brightness of the display, pretty much making the display useless during the day.

After going through the BBS archives, I decided to give the original blue non-AR lense a try, and the difference is amazing. I can see the display under all lighting conditions (inlcuding direct sunlight). I have attached a picture to illustrate the difference in display birghtness depending on which lense is being used.

My guess is that the performance of the blue lense is superior because the VFD has a lot of blue/green color in it (and very little "white" light.) Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I'd really like to use the red lense to match my interior lighting, but my empeg is pretty much unusable with it in place. Can anymore offer some alternatives and additonal information? The blue matches *nothing* in my car.
