FWIW, based on the metalwork labelling, they're both MkIIas. That is, RioCars, not empegs.

Thanks. I am so used to calling them Empegs since I've had five units over the years. I edited the post to fix the error.

I'm not really correcting you so much as just adding information.

I purchased the 30GB unit. The transaction was as smooth as it can get. The seller was very prompt at replying to emails. I had the unit within a 1.5 weeks from sending the seller an email, indicating I wanted to purchase the unit. The unit was as described and works well.

I'm just having trouble finding screws to screw the wiring harness into the sled. For the time being, I robbed two of the face plate screws so I could go ahead and install the unit in my car.

I am very pleased with the transaction, and I'm sure that whoever purchases the other unit will be happy.

Regards,

-Austin

For the time being, I robbed two of the face plate screws so I could go ahead and install the unit in my car.

You can do this with the screws on the sled, but don't try it with the screws holding the connector onto the player.

The screws that hold the wiring harness plug onto the player are of a very specific length, designed to bottom out and tighten while still leaving the the plug free to move slightly. This allows the plugs to self-center when the connection is made without putting strain on breakable/bendable parts.

Yes. I understand that. The screws on the connector to the player were included, and all is well. I understand the connector on the player needs to float a bit, and it appears as if all is well. Thanks for the info.
