I recently acquired the "Love Letter" virus from KAZAA which destroyed most of my .jpg files. i have the stuff back up on some CDs where I used DIRECT CD. however, I didn't install that program so when I went to install it (using the Roxio Easy CD Creator disk) the InstallShield wizard says "The wizard was interrupted before Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum could be completely installed." It then says to run setup later. So then I try to uninstall Easy CD Creator and it says the same thing. I then deleted everything i could find that was for easy CD creator and it still won't let me install it. Could this program be infected with the virus? Is there anything I can do stopping short of reformatting the hard drive?

use jv16 power tools to scrape your registry clean of useless stuff. been using it for a few years (it was called regclean once) and its always been great. it also allows you to backup stuff your remove from the registry in case something doesn't work right after a clean. i've never needed to revert before so i think this program is great. dowload it on the page below and give it a try:

i tried that and it put it back on the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS menu, but it still won't let me uninstall it (it says the same thing as before.) Is there anyway to bypass the 'Installshield Wizard' when trying to uninstall or install it?

did you try running the automatic cleanup? it should be able to cleanout the remains of a program but you need to give it a reason to do so. goto the directory where the prgram you want to uninstall is and rename it. after that, run the cleanup and see what happens. make sure its removed from the uninstall menu too.

Select 'Registry Tool' from the initial menu screen. after it opens, go to Tools>Registry Cleaner and another window will present itself. check off the options you want and let it sift through the registry.
in options, i usually have all checked off except "don't make any backups' just in case. you could uncheck 'i want to manually verify deleted entrys' but i like to delete it all myself in a case like yours.

are you talking about the menu screen from the Roxio Easy CD Creator? If so, the main part of the program is deleted from when I tried to delete the program manually since the uninstaller wasn't working. Or are you talkiing about a different menu screen?
