I started taking classes again (yay - work doesn't take up enough of my time). The homework we have now is to transform a 2nd order difference equation into a series of linear equations in matrix form. My question is, where do I find information on how to do this? I went back through my old math books (big ol' calc book, linear algebra, advanced engineering math, differential equations) and didn't find any information on difference equations (differential would've been to easy I guess).

Anybody have some info on where I can start hunting this stuff down?

I haven't looked for that specifically, but check out Eric Weisstein's World of Mathematics.
