Is there any little speakers out there that would plug directly into a 3.5 mm jack? I just got a Bluetooth GPS, but it is very hard to hear the computerized voice......

3.5mm is the same as 1/8" (i.e., stereo headphones), right?

Any self-powered speakers should work. There are scads of different ones out there, made for things like ipods and walkmans. Even a pair of desktop computer speakers will work. But remember that they all need power, because the little headphone jack is not amplified.

Has anyone seen a really small one...the size of a quarter? (in diameter, i mean) I was thinking that would be a perfect size....would necessarily have to be powered though? i thought they might make one that wasn't, but was really small....

It needs to be powered to be lound enough to hear.

Perhaps you should consider a PDA mount with built in speaker? I've been using one for about a month and it's ugly but functional.
