Where do i get this? A few sites i've been too including the boot logos pages prompt me to download this, then when it goes to Windows update, it says

"Automatic installation of Microsoft Virtual Machine is no longer provided for Microsoft Windows XP."

So then i try to get it from microsoft's downloads section, it comes up with "Microsoft VM update for Windows is no longer available at this site".

So where do i get it? -- i have Windows XP.

I actually had tried that and had no clue what to get. I don't know, maybe i'm just inept or something. Am i supposed to download the Java2 platform Standard Edition, or the Java plugin for Win XP or....?

I'd get J2SE v1.4.0.
