Jaw dropping. Go see it. While there is a lot of comedy, it's a bit more of a dramatic offering than Pixar's previous movies. Excellent all round... two and a half thumbs up.

Agreed. Brilliant as per usual. Go see it with a bunch of kids in the theatre if you can.

Really? Why do you say that? I was gonna try to see the latest show in hopes of missing all the kids.

Yep. And then go see it again in a theatre without kids, so that you can appreciate the other things, too. I saw it in a theatre with kids last night (went to the El Capitan to see the little song and dance premiere), but it wasn't the kids that were annoying, it was the lady behind me with the braying laugh.

During the song and dance part, the guy next to me tried taking pictures with his camera... a little thing about three inches by an inch and a half big. One of the theatre staff reprimanded him. Okay, whatever, but how could they pick out the little spy camera, yet be totally accepting of the guy three rows ahead with a *video* camera out, sitting on the railing -- they were even ducking under it's view!

That's pretty amusing, about 3 minutes after reading about the camming the movie I read this link from GoogleNews' page.

It wasn't the movie itself that he taped, but the song and dance number before it. On the opening night Disney movies, the El Capitan puts on a short live show before the film.

Why do you say that?

because... seeing a "kids" movie with kids is just... uplifting for some reason. It can remind you of the simple pleasure a kid can get from the stupidest joke or how scared from a dark theatre. I half enjoyed the comments i overheard from the 6 year olds and their parents more than the movie. But you have to be able to let go of the mindset that will let you get annoyed. Ya gotta just be able to lighten up every once and a while ya know? The laughter of a child is an amazing thing to me. I guess that's why i got involved in this whole animation biz in the first place... to create something that can make people emote openly like that is just a great thing.

Is it possible to post a spoiler for an animated kid flick? I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that they do find Nemo.

Okay, so the ending isn't much of a surprise, but some of the punchlines are good, and not what you'd expect from the trailers.

tiny tiny spoiler only in that I reference a couple concepts from the film (I give no context, though )

I concur 100% ... The scenes in it are beautiful. I think it's really cool that in each Pixar movie the credits look more and more like a live action film ("Ocean Unit", "Tank Unit", etc). And I think it's funny that the animated short says "Filmed Entirely On Location" -- didn't notice if the actual film said this also).

John Lasseter is just a genius is what it comes down too ... There's clearly a ton of amazing technology going on over there, but story, pacing, etc is so key and they nail it every time. I am never dissappointed by them.

Also the jellyfish scene is one of the more beautiful/amazing scenes I've ever seen them do.
